19th September
Dear Parents/Guardians,
In light of Level 3 restrictions, Skerries Sailing Club has made the decision, effective immediately, to close all training activity for the next three weeks, including adult racing, adult Just Sailing and junior autumn training.
With regret, junior autumn training has now been cancelled for this year. If you have paid a deposit or full fees already, please contact the club via email address juniors.skerriessailingclub@gmail.com with your IBAN and we’ll arrange a refund. Alternatively, please let us know if you prefer to carry your paid fees/deposit over as a credit note for use in spring training. We look forward to seeing all your sailors back on the water in the future, as soon as it is safely possible.
On behalf of your Junior Committee

Autumn Training Registration
SSC Juniors autumn training is now open for registration. Training will run for 5 weekends. Starting the weekend of Friday Sept 18th, it continues over 5 weekends and finishes on Sunday October 18th.
Please note that the registration form includes a menu of different 5-week, half-day training programs options. Sessions are on allocated Friday afternoons, Saturday mornings, Saturday afternoons, Sunday mornings and Sunday afternoons. We hope these 5 different options will allow you to choose training times that best suit your sailor(s). This also allows us to keep training groups small, in line with current HSE guidelines.
10% sibling discount applies, as does 10% discount for multiple bookings for the same sailor.

Parent/Guardian Volunteering
Thank you to all the parents/guardians who endured weeks of sand tracked through your homes and damp wetsuits hanging on the clothesline. We hope, in return, you saw independence and confidence build in your sailors throughout summer training.
Developing and facilitating junior sailing is a labour of love (but it takes an awful lot of labour). For that reason, your Junior Committee is currently looking for parent volunteers.
· We are looking for parents/grandparents/guardians to be on our general helpers list. This is a list of parents/guardians who can help from time to time. Possible jobs include launching and retrieving safety boats in a team, directing traffic on Harbour Rd when sailors are launching or returning to the club, acting as COVID officer for a half or full day of training (taking temperatures, keeping training pods together, etc) or helping prepare and serve food for sailors at the SSC Junior Regatta.
· We are looking for parent/guardians to join the Junior Committee as general committee members. The Junior Committee meets once a month and has the responsibility of planning and overseeing junior sailing activities. Through Winter 2020-2021, we will be planning the 2021 spring, summer (ISA) and autumn sailing.
· We are especially looking for a parent/guardian/grandparent to join the Junior Committee as Junior Treasurer. The Junior Treasurer is responsible for presenting a monthly report at the Junior Committee meeting, as well as preparing our annual accounts. The Junior Treasurer works closely with, and is supported by, the SSC Senior Treasurer.
For all roles, you must complete Garda vetting, as well as an online (1 hour) Child Protection certificate.
If you are interested in any of these roles, or have any questions about membership or parent/guardian volunteering, please contact Junior Convenor Nora Pyne at either juniors.skerriessailingclub@gmail.com or 0862296647.
With warm regards,
Your Junior Committee
