Dear Members

As you are probably already aware the banking system changed last year for setting up monthly standing orders / mandates with your bank, you have to do it personally not like in previous years where the Club could do it for you.

This is continuing this year and in addition to this the Club is also accepting online banking payments – you set it up yourself – (this is free).

Please ensure that your Membership Ref. No. (eg. Smi07) is on your payment so we can identify it (don’t just write membership or SSC!).

Subs may be paid in 10 monthly instalments commencing 28 February 2015 and all payments must be made by final payment date 28 November 2015.

If you commence your payment after February please ensure that you reduce the total number of monthly instalments and increase the monthly amount accordingly to ensure full membership payment is made in 2015.

The Club Bank Account details that you will need are as follows:

Account Name:    Skerries Sailing Club

Bank:                    AIB

IBAN:                   IE33AIBK93224810220024

Bank A/c:             10220024

Sort Code:            93-22-48

BIC:                      AIBKIE2D

Please return standing order set up form to your bank if you are doing it manually (it takes a week for the bank to process your form before it is taken from your account so please be mindful of this) and return the Members Statement of Account to the Club for our records so that we will know that you have paid – you can also email me on membership@skerriessailingclub.com  if you have any queries.

Rush Winter Series

A few hardy Skerries Laser sailors are braving the winter series at Rush. Racing in the river is,,,,   interesting? fun? mad?

On Sunday the tide was so strong that you couldn’t sail round the mark. A diversion a few hundred metres up tide, followed by a dive out into the current, was the solution. If you misjudge it, just rinse and repeat til you get it right.

Great fun, and followed by hot soup.

If you don’t come and sail, at least come and have a laugh at our discomfort.

New Web Site – Please Register

Welcome to the new Skerries Sailing Club site. This is a new and much easier way to update club information, news, photos, events…

If it isn’t showing what you want to see, get in touch – you can add your own contributions.

Note all the old content is still available at the ‘archive’ menu item above. We will gradually transfer all pages that are still useful.

Please use the link on the left to register. Once registered, please email webmaster to be set up as an author. We need to do this to avoid ‘spam’ subscriptions.

You’ll then see a ‘New’ link above, where you can enter your own post; tell us about your season, your fleet, your plans for next year, or the winning numbers for next week’s lotto…

Sailing Season Finishes

lastRaceDrinksResized

A great call by Liam Dinneen, PRO for Saturday, saw 7 boats brave strong winds to compete in 3 short but tough races.  The tight standings before the racing added to the excitement.  In the PY we congratulate Frankie Brown (mermaid 135) who defiantly, with his crew, threw off their latent tendency to become submariners and stormed through the races with a first and two seconds to win the series and the mermaid Boylan trophy with Colman Grimes and Stan Shepherd coming 2nd and 3rd in the series despite the close attention of Cathal Sheridan and Niall McGrotty.  Stan wins the Dollard Cup as best laser in the series.
In the progressive series Colman (GP14) took the honours from Frankie in second and Paul Browne in third (and winning the mermaid Dardis trophy).  Only 2 points separated the top three boats in this competition.  Following racing and the taking of boats out of the water all adjourned to the clubhouse for sandwiches kindly prepared by Kathryn Collins.  Many thanks.
