Cruisers

Local Racing
A number of varied cruisers ranging from 17ft to 50ft race at Skerries under a handicap system.
The cruiser fleet races twice weekly in the Skerries area on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. There are also six offshore races arranged each year which take in Carlingford, Isle of Man, Howth, Wicklow, Lambay (Night) & Poolbeg.

E-Boats (E-boats) represent the only cruisers which race on a fleet basis although they can also be handicapped with the other cruisers. We also have a Ruffian class comprising two boats. Most of the Skerries fleet are monohulls but we also have a catamaran and a trimaran

Participation in External Events

E-Boats and Ruffians represent Skerries Sailing Club in the National Championships and regularly collect silverware.

One of our boats, Raging Bull won IRC Class 2 in the Conway Round Ireland Yacht Race in 2010 and is currently competing in the ISORA offshore series and regularly bringing back silverware.

We have regular entrants from Skerries in The Howth Autumn League where we have enjoyed several successes.

Cruising
A number of these boats also undertake leisure cruisers each summer. Favourite destinations are Scotland, the south coast of Ireland, Wales and France.

Laying Up
The club arranges winter storage for cruisers on the premises. A crane is hired each September to lift the boats out and again the following April to lower them back into the water.
