Skerries is steeped in a rich maritime tradition, offering scenic routes that feature local islands such as Colt, Saint Patricks, Shenick, and Lambay Islands, as well as the iconic Rockabill Lighthouse. These waters are perfect for sailors of all experience levels, providing both novice and seasoned sailors with stunning views and enjoyable challenges.

Skerries Sailing Club Services

Skerries Sailing Club (SSC) enhances your sailing experience with a weekend punting service to and from moorings for both members and visitors. This service operates from 10:00 hrs to 18:00 hrs (and until 20:00 hrs on some evenings) during the summer months. You can reach the punt on Channel 72. 

While SSC does not have dedicated visitor moorings, local members may offer private moorings for a night or two, subject to availability and permission. Other mooring possibilities include anchorage in the bay (exposed to north and west). The inner harbour dries but its sandy bottom is suitable for bilge keelers. Water is available at the inner end of the pier, diesel from a filling station about a mile away, provisions from several excellent shops in the town.

Plan Your Visit

As SSC is a voluntary organisation, the clubhouse may not always be open, and the punt ferry service may not be available at certain times. We strongly recommend contacting the club via email in advance to confirm opening hours and punt service availability.

Skerries serves as an excellent base for exploring the East Coast of Ireland and the Irish Sea. Enjoy ample opportunities for scenic sailing, cultural exploration, and maritime adventure.
